Safari Sevens 2025: Kenya Set to Host Rugby’s Grandest African Showcase

The countdown is on for the 27th edition of the Safari Sevens, Africa’s premier invitational rugby sevens tournament, returning to Nyayo National Stadiu from October 10–12. Organized by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU), this year’s event promises electrifying action, global participation, and a celebration of Kenya’s rugby legacy.
A Legacy Forged in Grit and Glory
Since its inception in 1996, the Safari 7s has evolved from a local showcase into a continental rugby powerhouse. Kenya has lifted the trophy ten times, and the tournament has served as a launchpad for global competitions like the HSBC SVNS Series and Rugby World Cup Sevens qualifiers. This year, KRU is leveraging the event to strengthen Kenya’s bid to host a leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series.

The 2025 edition features 12 men’s teams and 8 women’s teams, spotlighting the tournament’s commitment to gender parity and international diversity.
