Kenya Simbas Announce 28-Man Squad for 2027 Rugby World Cup Qualifier in Uganda

On July 1, 2025, Kenya Simbas head coach Jerome Paarwater revealed the 28-player squad set to travel to Uganda for the 2027 Rugby World Cup Qualifier, which is also the 2025 Rugby Africa Cup. The team recently completed a month-long High-Performance camp in South Africa, where they played nine matches against various teams. Paarwater noted that the players are well-prepared, injury-free, and have developed strong team chemistry, enhancing their performance both on and off the field.
The squad includes four debutants—Vincent Mwikhali, Patrick Sabatia, David Bunduki, and Samuel Ovwamu—who impressed during the camp. Returning players Thomas Okeyo, Samuel Asati, Jone Kubu, and John Okoth also made the final selection. Team manager Jimmy Mnene expressed confidence in the squad, stating that the new players will bring fresh energy to the team.
The Simbas will begin their campaign on July 8 in a knockout match against Uganda at Mandela National Stadium, followed by a game against either Zimbabwe or Morocco on July 13.
