Michael Olunga Unveils Features of His Advanced Sports Complex in Homa Bay

Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga has shared exciting updates about his cutting-edge MOFA sports complex under construction in Homa Bay County. The facility, located in Othoro, is part of his foundation academy, MOFA, and aims to transform football infrastructure in Kenya.

Olunga recently revealed that the complex will feature two football pitches—a seven-a-side and an 11-a-side—built to international standards, separated by a six-meter road.

“These pitches will revolutionize football in this country,” Olunga stated on social media, emphasizing their potential impact.

The fields will boast well-maintained grass, professional landscaping, and a sophisticated drainage system with underground pipes to manage rainwater effectively. Additionally, the pitches will be equipped with pop-up sprinklers, a feature seen in top global stadiums, ensuring optimal playing conditions.

Spanning five acres, the complex will include supporting facilities like changing rooms, accommodation, and offices. Olunga’s vision is driven by the need to address Kenya’s longstanding lack of quality football infrastructure.

“For too long, poor pitch surfaces have held us back. We want this facility to be a game-changer, nurturing talent with world-class infrastructure,” he said.

The complex is secured with a concrete wall, electric fencing, and CCTV cameras. A borehole is also being drilled to ensure a steady water supply, stored in a 5,000-liter underground tank.

Through MOFA, Olunga is developing young talent aged 10 to 18, with MOFA FC competing in Kenya’s National Super League. The facility is poised to set a new standard for football development in the country.
