Harambee Stars Invited to Special Edition of 2025 Mapinduzi Cup

The Vice Chairman of the Mapinduzi Cup organizing committee, Suleiman Jabir, has confirmed that various national teams, including Kenya’s Harambee Stars, will participate in the 2025 Mapinduzi Cup. This edition of the tournament will be unique, as it will feature national teams instead of clubs to prepare for the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), set to begin on February 1, 2025. Participating national teams include Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, who will also compete in CHAN.
Jabir announced that the tournament will start on January 3 and conclude on January 14, with matches held at Gombani Pemba due to renovations at Aman Stadium. He highlighted that a draw would be conducted to determine team pools before the competition begins.
In addition to football, the tournament will feature various activities and individual awards to enhance the experience for participants and fans. The winning team will receive Tsh100 million (approximately Ksh 5,203,000).
This tournament will mark the first national team assignment for the new FKF office, led by President Hussein Mohammed and his deputy, MacDonald Mariga, should Kenya accept the invitation.
Jabir emphasized the participation of national teams, including Zanzibar Heroes, Kenya, Uganda, Kilimanjaro Stars, Burundi, and Burkina Faso, and assured that the event will be filled with surprises to ensure everyone’s enjoyment.
