Gor Mahia FC Confirms Eliud Owalo as Substantive Club Patron

Gor Mahia Football Club has officially appointed Hon. Eliud Owalo as its substantive patron, effective from November 1, 2025. The announcement comes via a press release issued on November 9, 2025, building on an earlier notification dated October 16, 2025, where Owalo had assumed the role in an acting capacity as deputy patron. He replaces former patron the late Raila Odinga.

Signed by Club Chairman Ambrose Rachier, the statement aims to inform the general public, football fraternity, club members, and fans of the confirmation. “This is to formally notify… that the club has confirmed the appointment of Hon. Eliud Owalo Fihrm, FESK, EGH as the substantive club patron,” the release reads.

Owalo, a prominent figure in Kenyan public service and a known Gor Mahia supporter, steps into the role amid the club’s ongoing efforts to stabilize leadership and enhance governance. The appointment is seen as a boost for K’Ogalo, Kenya’s most successful football club with a rich history in domestic and continental competitions.

Gor Mahia continues to dominate the Football Kenya Federation Premier League and remains a key player in East African football. Fans and stakeholders have welcomed the news, viewing Owalo’s involvement as a strategic move to strengthen the club’s administrative and financial foundations.
