Ferdinand Omanyala Secures Lucrative Deal with Italian Tech Firm Tecar

Africa’s fastest man, Ferdinand Omanyala, has signed a multimillion-shilling endorsement with Italian recovery technology company Tecar, following his recent performance at the Rome Diamond League on June 6, where he clocked 10.01 seconds in the 100m, narrowly missing the sub-10-second mark.
The four-year partnership, valued at €60,000 (about Ksh8.8 million), will support Omanyala’s training through the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The deal includes a €50,000 flagship recovery machine and additional products designed to enhance performance and accelerate recovery, particularly after long flights. Omanyala spent three days in Italy working with experts to tailor the equipment to his specific needs.
“It’s a game changer,” Omanyala said, explaining that the Tecar device uses electromagnetic technology to activate muscles and the neuromuscular system, helping eliminate jet lag and boost performance. He plans to integrate it into his training and travel routine with his team.
At the Rome Diamond League, Omanyala finished third behind American Trayvon Bromell (9.84 seconds) and Cameroon’s Emmanuel Esseme (9.99 seconds). Despite not achieving his sub-10 goal, his performance showed progress from his 10.05-second run at the Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, signaling strong form ahead of the upcoming 2025 Tokyo World Championships in September.
