Chelsea consider early recall of Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace

Chelsea is reportedly considering triggering their option to recall defender Trevoh Chalobah from his season-long loan spell at Crystal Palace this month. The decision comes in response to injury problems plaguing the Blues’ defensive lineup, with Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile both sidelined.

Chalobah, who joined Crystal Palace on loan in August 2024, has been a regular in the first team, making 12 Premier League appearances and scoring three goals. Despite Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner’s desire to keep the Englishman at Selhurst Park, the break clause inserted by Chelsea allows for his early return.

The potential recall highlights Chelsea’s current defensive crisis and their need for reinforcements. With recent performances falling short of expectations, Chelsea is looking to bolster their backline to navigate through a tough run of results.

It remains to be seen how Chalobah, who was deemed surplus to requirements last summer, will react to the possibility of returning to Stamford Bridge. His versatility and Premier League experience could prove invaluable to Chelsea as they seek to regain their form and challenge for a higher position in the league table.
