Arnold Origi Opens Up About Return to Harambee Stars and Coaching Journey

Ex-Harambee Stars goalkeeper and now a coach, Arnold Origi, has shared insights on his return to the national team in a temporary coaching role. This new chapter in his career will have Origi mentoring the next generation of goalkeepers, leveraging his extensive experience and knowledge.
Origi, now 41, is part of the technical team appointed by the Football Kenya Federation alongside Francis Kimanzi. They are tasked with training the Harambee Stars for the upcoming Mapinduzi Cup in Zanzibar in January 2025 and preparing the team for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) tournament.
Expressing his excitement, Origi said, “Being back with the national team is a great feeling – it’s always an honor. I’ve had the privilege of representing Harambee Stars as a player, and now I’m here as a goalkeeper coach. It’s a different role, but one I’ve grown to love.”
His journey into coaching wasn’t initially planned. Inspired by Gianluigi Buffon, Origi aimed to play well into his 40s. However, after his last contract at FC Hødd in Norway, finding a suitable offer became challenging. Fortuitously, he had completed his UEFA coaching badges and discovered his passion for coaching while training keepers at Östersund.
Arnold Origi’s return to Harambee Stars, albeit in a different capacity, marks an exciting new chapter as he continues to contribute to Kenyan football by nurturing future talents.
