Raila Odinga’s Funeral Prompts Venue Change for Kenya Police’s CAF Champions League Qualifiers Match

The first-leg match of the Caf Champions League’s second preliminary round, featuring Kenya Police FC against Sudanese giants Al Hilal, has been moved to a new venue. Initially scheduled to be held at Nyayo National Stadium, the game will now be played at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, this Friday.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) confirmed the change on Thursday, explaining that Nyayo National Stadium will be hosting the funeral service for the late former Prime Minister and opposition leader, Raila Odinga. Mr. Odinga passed away on Wednesday while receiving medical treatment in India.
Despite the change in location, the federation has assured that the match will proceed as planned. Jeff Kinyanjui, the FKF Head of Communication, confirmed, “The game is on and will be played from 3 pm.”
Kenya Police FC earned their place in this round after eliminating Mogadishu City Club from Somalia in the first preliminary round last September. They advanced on the away goal rule after the two legs ended in a 3-3 aggregate deadlock.
