Posta Rangers Survive Relegation Battle Despite Home Defeat to Naivas

Posta Rangers will remain in the FKF Premier League next season after edging Naivas FC 2–1 on aggregate in the promotion/relegation playoff, despite a 1–0 defeat in Wednesday’s return leg at Kasarani Annex.
Naivas came into the fixture needing to overturn a two-goal deficit following their 2–0 loss in the first leg. They found hope when midfielder Kevin Mutiema fired home just before halftime, rekindling dreams of top-tier promotion for the NSL side.
The second half saw Naivas pile relentless pressure on the Rangers backline, with wave after wave of attacks forcing brave defending and inspired saves from veteran keeper Jairus Adira. Posta Rangers, though outplayed on the day, clung onto their narrow advantage with grit and discipline.
Speaking after the final whistle, Rangers head coach John Kamau credited his side’s resolve: “We knew Naivas would throw everything at us, but the boys stayed focused. We did the hard work in the first leg, and tonight was about character.”
For Naivas, it’s a case of so close, yet so far. Their spirited second-leg performance may have won them admirers, but not promotion. They’ll now regroup and refocus for another push in the NSL next season.
What it means: Posta Rangers retain their place in Kenya’s top flight, preserving their proud record of consistently competing among the elite. For Naivas, the dream waits another season.
