FKF President Hussein Mohammed set to announce new Harambee Stars coach

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President, Hussein Mohammed, has revealed that a new coach for the Harambee Stars will be announced within the next week. This comes after the resignation of former coach Engin Firat due to unpaid salaries. The federation is keen on finalizing the appointment to ensure a smooth transition.
Currently, Francis Kimanzi is serving as the interim coach, but he is set to take on a new role as the federation’s technical director once the new coach is appointed. Kimanzi, a seasoned tactician with experience as a CAF instructor, has been instrumental in preparing the team for upcoming tournaments.
Potential New Coach: Benni McCarthy
Reports indicate that South African football legend Benni McCarthy is the frontrunner for the coaching position. McCarthy, known for his successful playing career and coaching stints at Amazulu and Cape Town, was also the forwards coach at Manchester United. His appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective and much-needed experience to the team.
The new coach’s first major assignment will likely be the Africa Nations Championship (CHAN) in February, followed by the World Cup qualifiers in March. The federation is optimistic that the new coaching setup will help the Harambee Stars achieve their objectives and improve their performance on the international stage.
