TRANSFER NEWS: AFC Leopards Loan Midfield Gem Deng Kang to Equity FC

FKF Premier League giants AFC Leopards have temporarily parted ways with promising midfielder Deng Kang, loaning the youngster to National Super League (NSL) side Equity FC for the remainder of the season.
The move, confirmed during the ongoing January transfer window, will see the South Sudanese playmaker ply his trade with the Bankers for the next six months as he seeks regular playing time to aid his development.
In Search of Minutes
Deng, who is highly rated within the Ingwe setup, was promoted to the senior team at the start of the 2025/26 campaign after impressing with the AFC Leopards Cubs (youth team). However, breaking into the first team has proven difficult for the lanky midfielder.
Leopards are currently enjoying a stellar season, sitting at the summit of the Premier League table. With established stars like Musa Oundo, Boniface Munyendo, and Cliff Nyakeya firing on all cylinders in midfield, opportunities for the youngster have been limited.
The loan move to Equity FC is seen as a strategic decision by the Leopards’ technical bench, led by head coach Fred Ambani, to ensure Deng does not stagnate on the bench. The second-tier NSL is known for its physical and competitive nature, offering the perfect crucible for a young talent to harden his skills before returning to the Den.
A Boost for Equity FC
For Equity FC, the arrival of Deng Kang is a massive boost to their promotion ambitions. The Bankers have had a solid run in the NSL this season, currently sitting within the top bracket of the table and pushing for a playoff spot.
Deng’s technical ability, vision, and height will add a new dimension to Equity’s midfield as they look to close the gap on league leaders like Migori Youth. He is expected to slot straight into the squad as they navigate the crucial second leg of the season.
The Bigger Picture
This loan spell mirrors a common strategy used by top clubs to nurture talent. If Deng can replicate the form that saw him promoted from the Cubs, he will likely return to AFC Leopards next season ready to challenge for a starting berth.
Equity FC will be in action this weekend, and fans will be keen to see if their new signing makes his debut immediately. Meanwhile, AFC Leopards continue their title charge, confident that their future midfield engine is gaining valuable mileage in the Super League.
