Harambee Stars Seek Redemption in Second Friendly Against Chad

Kenya’s national men’s football team, the Harambee Stars, are gearing up for their second friendly against Chad tonight at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, Morocco, after a frustrating 0–0 draw on June 7
Coach Benni McCarthy has yet to record a win in his three matches at the helm. Reflecting on the stalemate, he urged patience as he builds the squad, saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day… You’re not going to just come in… then I make magic.” while Kenya dominated possession, they lacked clinical finishing.
For tonight’s fixture (8 PM EAT), McCarthy made only minor tweaks. Starting XI likely includes Brian Bwire in goal, a defense anchored by Abud Omar and Brian Mandela, a midfield led by Alpha Onyango and Brian Musa, and a forward line featuring William Lenkupae, Adam Wilson, and Moses Shumah.
The coach emphasized the need for composure in front of goal: “When you dominate… you have to be very disappointed that you did not win… it is something for us to go back and work on.”
Tonight’s match offers Kenya a chance to refocus ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN) this August, which they’ll co-host with Uganda and Tanzania.
