Onsongo Clinches Inaugural Invest Kenya Tournament at Muthaiga Golf Club

The tournament is expected to become an annual fixture in Kenya’s golfing calendar, further strengthening the country’s position as a premier destination for investment and sport.

Scola Onsongo emerged as the overall winner of the inaugural Invest Kenya Golf Tournament (IKGT) hosted at the Muthaiga Golf Club, with a strong performance, of 45 Stableford points playing off a handicap of 24.

Scola was beat a total of 200 golfers who competed in the tournament which brought together corporate leaders, investors as well as amateur and professional players for a day of competition and networking.

Jaspal Nyotta emerged as the Man Winner with 39 points with a handicap of 25 while the women’s category was won by Damaris Opemi who garnered 38 points with a handicap of 31. Men’s Runner Up Charles Gitahi managed 39 points with a handicap of 21 while the lady runner-up title went to P. Wanjiru, who secured 37 points with a 22 handicap.

Part of the Kenya International Investment Conference (KIICO 2026), the tournament served as a unique intersection of sport, business and national positioning, reinforcing Kenya’s standing as both a leading investment destination and a hub for world-class sporting events.

Speaking during the awards ceremony, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Kenya, Mr. John Mwendwa, OGW, noted:

     “We are proud to host our very first golf tournament which integrates business and fun at the fairways, providing the ideal networking platform power for investors.”

Speaking on behalf the IKGT main sponsors Moses Muthui, the Consumer Banking Director at Absa Bank Kenya added:

  “Absa is really a proud to back the brand that is Brand Kenya. We’ve participated in profiling sports in the country through Magical Kenya Open just recently today and this week again, we’ve been very much involved in profiling Kenya as an investment destination and there’s incredible work that is being done by Invest Kenya.”
