Kenya U-17 Secure First Win in CECAFA AFCON Qualifiers

Kenya’s Junior Stars bounced back strongly in the ongoing CECAFA U-17 AFCON qualifiers, defeating Rwanda 2-1 on Thursday evening at Abebe Bikila Stadium in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
After opening their campaign with a 1-1 draw against Somalia, the young Kenyans delivered a determined performance to claim their first three points in Group A. Trevor Nasasiro broke the deadlock for Kenya before Nicholas Ocholla doubled the advantage. Rwanda pulled one back through Oly Nshiyimana, but the Junior Stars held firm to seal the victory.
The result lifts Kenya into a stronger position in the group and keeps their hopes of advancing to the 2026 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations firmly alive. The top teams from the regional qualifiers will progress to the continental finals.
Kenya will now turn their attention to the remaining group fixtures as they aim to maintain momentum and secure one of the qualifying spots. The CECAFA tournament continues to serve as a vital platform for East Africa’s emerging talents to showcase their abilities on the path to senior international football.
